Anyone ever installed a Vintage Air A/C system before?

I can buy the system and install it myself for around $1500 or I can pay someone to install it for me for around $3000-$3500. Anyone have any experience installing one of these? How difficult was it/how long did it take? I'd be installing it in a C10 pickup.

What year truck? Did it come with factory A/C?

The vintage air kits are really nice. Easy to install and follow the instructions. If your truck came with A/C and you are just putting in the vintage air kit for an upgrade it should be straight forward. If your truck didn't come with factory A/C its slightly more complicated but nothing too challenging.

I've ripped the a/c system out of my Miata. A/C systems are fairly simple, and there's plenty of room in a C10 to work. If it doesn't require a ton of fabbing, or you are mechanically proficient, I'd say go for it. Remember to add a bit for vacuuming the system and adding freon.

1985 GMC. I don't know if it came with factory A/C but it has nothing on it now. I bought it as an almost completed project with a 454 swapped in, so it would be going in like a non-factory A/C vehicle.

Also, please excuse my ignorance (Never really dealt with HVAC systems before) but does the Vintage Air system come with a heater core or do I need a stock one? I don't think there is one currently installed on my truck.

If you get the kit from them it will come with everything you need to "bolt" A/C into your truck. Seeing that you have done a motor swap it may be worth your time to call them up, tell them what motor you have in the truck because you may be in need of a special or different pulley than what comes with the kit.

Does the interior of the truck have any vents? Or the control panel for the A/C? Or holes where these items would go?

I'm curious to follow along the progress of this. The last thing I will need to do in my '73 LeSabre is rebuild the A/C. Right now it's about 3/4 there but none of it working. The C10 is not very different, I'd love to follow along.

Easy to install and follow the instructions.

From what I hear, this is true... I've never done it but talked to folks who have.
